Wienerpalooza: More Than 100 Dachshunds Ready for Their Chance at a Home

After nearly 500 days of waiting, more than 100 miniature dachshunds at the McCracken County Humane Society are finally getting their chance at homes of their own.

The 2025 case involving the dogs has been settled, and the Humane Society is now in the process of spaying and neutering them in preparation for Wienerpalooza on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

McCracken County Judge Executive Craig Clymer visited the Humane Society ahead of the event to meet some of the dogs and encourage the community to consider adoption.

Wienerpalooza Adoption Event

Saturday, September 19, 2026
Gates open: 8:30 a.m.
Adoptions begin: 9:00 a.m.
Location: McCracken County Humane Society

Those interested in adopting are encouraged to visit the Humane Society before the event to complete an application and pre-qualify. Completing an application early does not guarantee a place in line on September 19, but it will help speed up the adoption process that day.

On the day of the event, numbers will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to those with completed applications. A maximum of two dachshund adoptions per household will be permitted.

Applicants should bring:

  • Picture ID
  • Veterinarian information
  • If renting, a copy of the lease showing that pets are permitted

Wienerpalooza will also include food trucks and activities for children, making it an all-day community celebration as these dogs begin their next chapter.

“Come on in and get something that changes your life — and his life, too.”
— McCracken County Judge Executive Craig Clymer
